Aria University, located in Milpitas, California, is a private, nonprofit institution that began offering courses in 2017. Currently the university offers Master’s, Diploma and Certificate programs in the Arts & Humanities and Computer Science. Aria University has received prestigious WSCUC accreditation, demonstrating its provision of high quality learning and teaching environments.
As per Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME), there are only 158 accredited MD schools in USA and only 13 MD schools in California. Out of the 13, there are only 4 MD Schools in Northern California, 2 public, 1 private nonprofit MD School (Stanford) and 1 private for profit MD School (Cal North State).
California, with a population of over 39 million, has only 13 MD schools and about 16.9 medical students/100,000 population, while New York with a population of 19 million has 15 MD schools and about 43.9 students/100,000 population. The San Joaquin Valley is considered as the “Health Desert” in California. Aria University School of Medicine (AUSOM) is planning to start the First Private Non-Profit MD school after 118 years (Stanford 1908) in the largest medically underserved area of Central Valley in California.

AUSOM leased a historic building from the San Joaquin County for 30 years with $1/year rent. This building is conveniently located in the San Joaquin General Hospital campus in the French Camp, CA. The building is being renovated and is expected to be ready by the first half of 2026.
